Around 3000 years BC in remote places in China, mankind was looking for the meaning of life. Ancient traditions, rudimentary I Ching and ideas about life philosophy had it's roots. Some sources say it's 5ooo years ago. It created a philosophy called Tao.

About 2500 years ago different branches developed out of this philosophy. The researcher sought ways to be healthy and live in harmony with oneself, nature and the cosmos.

High in the mountains with nothing around other than nature, away from the normal daily life, the Taoists learned about Qi (life-force).
Qi surrounds us and flows through everything.
There is abundance of Qi in nature.
The ancient Taoists looked inwardly into the human body and discovered an inner world.

The life-force Qi is not only around us, it is also in the human body itself.
The Body Qi flows in special channels, which we call meridians.
Qi is the link between the physical body, the emotions, the subtle energy and the mind.

Those who have strong and abundant life-force; enjoy perfect health, vitality, and a high potential of creativity and inspiration.
Naturally this life-force gets weaker from about 25 years of age; it can get less much earlier through extreme emotional swings, bad body posture, poor nutrition and through sickness.

The Tao (=Dao) includes silent meditation, inner alchemy, Taoist sexual teachings, and many practices of today’s Qigong.
In the last century Tao came to western countries known as Qigong and Tai Chi.
So, people from different cultures took part in developing the practices, suited to our nowadays needs and lifestyle.
